Your Identity Is Key / 2025
Mixed Media Collage On Canvas
12" X 16"
The Lord has been speaking to me about identity for the past few months now so I’ve taken a closer look…evaluated where I’m at personally and asked the Holy Spirit to reveal any weak areas and have been focusing on key scriptures.
As I gathered the materials I’d prepared for a mixed media art project that I would be leading at a women’s conference within a couple of days, He continued to speak. I knew the theme for the art project was to be about Kingdom identity. The first question I asked the Lord as I prepared notes to share my testimony was, “How would You like for me to start?” to which I immediately heard, “Your identity is key”.
The art project was a hit and the women were so excited with the very personal, unique, beautiful works of art they created that included a key! I was excited as well because the Lord was so present and Kingdom identity was highlighted throughout the entire conference.
Two weeks later I attended a workshop titled “Prophetic Art Weekend / Painting With The Holy Spirit” and the Lord spoke clearly again regarding Kingdom identity. After an amazing time of worship, we prepared to paint. We all asked the Holy Spirit what He would like for us to paint. I immediately heard, “A key”. He was clearly continuing to speak about our identity in Him.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are “born again” or “new creations” IN CHRIST and our personal relationship with Him; reading, listening, studying His word, brings about supernatural changes within us. We are gradually transformed by the truth of His word, His Spirit within us. The old self is not who we are anymore once we give our lives to Him. He begins a work in us that takes time. As we cooperate with Him and live in obedience to the truth of His word, every area of our life comes into alignment with Him and He truly sets us FREE to be who he created us to be.
The world wants to put labels on us the moment we’re born. We are not an accident, a loser, Democrats, Republicans, introverts, victims, rejected, worthless, stupid, and on and on. We are not our feelings, desires, our physical appearance, our job or our accomplishments; our identity is IN CHRIST, the God who created us and not what others say or even what we say or feel about ourselves. Before we can be all God wants us to be, we must know who we are in Christ and who God created us to be. We must reject the lies we’ve believed about who we are and replace them with the truth of God’s word... and He has a lot to say about it. The following are just a few of many scriptures (Keys) that make it very clear about who God says we are. Our identities are IN CHRIST alone!
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
(Genesis 1:27)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
(Psalm 139: 13-14)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
(1 Peter 2:9)
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
(Galatians 2:20)
For we are his workmanship, created IN CHRIST JESUS for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:10)
For God did not give us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power and love and a sound mind.
(2 Timothy 1:7)
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
(John 1:2)
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
(Colossians 3:3)
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17)
